10 Toes Down: The Matriarch

10 toes down a tribute to all women that are still pacing patiently through this thing called life.

Where to death do we part means more than after death when you’re living it every day.

Where the matriarch no longer is remembered or that their even family at all.

Where ailments take over your body like the Prince Charming you never asked for. 

Where babies are taken before they even had a chance to express their little precious lives here on Earth. 

To the song you keep singing

And the hands you keep clapping and the knees you keep bending praying for change when seemingly it has no plans to stop by your way.

Remember 10 reasons why you are grateful to still be here and 

walk-through life with all those 10 toes grounded, secure that, even though we all prefer to be saved, we recognize that we have to take the first step in locating the essence of ourselves internally. 

From that place, it makes those steps, a little lighter, the switch a little sexier, and your head a little higher because these 10 toes have purpose. 

Rather with an army, or alone 

Know that you’re going to reach your destination regardless. 

This is what it truly means to live your life, unapologetically, knowing who you are and walking every single day in it.
